There are many ways in which military landing mats can be used, including temporary road track, alternatives to concrete and paving, and as boat ramps. Below is an example of how landing mats were used as boat ramps for a race on the Oklahoma River.

The City of Oklahoma City recently hosted the Southern Drag Boat Association races on the Oklahoma River. There was one permanent ramp to use for taking the boats out of the river at the end of the coarse but one was needed to put the boats into the river. Time was of the essence and this needed to be completed from start to finish in 4 days. The river was lowered and the excavation began. Rock was brought in and spread on the ramp. After this was done the landing mats were installed and the ramp was ready to go.

The boat ramp project was completed in time and was very useful for the event. The ramp will remain in place until after the races next year at which time the event will be moved to another location on the river closer to the Bricktown area. It is unknown at this time if the portable ramp will be needed at that location or not.
